About Tony Roberts
Tony T. Roberts is coined by his peers as the "comedian's comedian." His hard hitting, energetic style has catapulted him into the top ranks of the comedy circuit.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan on Seven Mile, Tony is the oldest son of Annette Roberts and the only son of his father Alvin Askew. He graduated from Henry Ford High School and then went into the Army where he spent 10 years of service. A befitting journey, since some have also referred to Tony as the "Sergeant of Comedy."
A favorite of club owners for his improvisational skills and quick wit, Tony has toured the nation with his stand-up comedy in all the major night clubs across the country. Tony has also toured nationally with the stage plays, "If These Hips Could Talk" and "Ain't Nothing Like Family." He has also toured internationally with his stand-up comedy, one of his more notable accomplishments was a nomination from the UK for Best International Comic.
Tony has also made numerous television appearances on HBO's "Def Comedy Jam," BET's "Comic View" and "Showtime at the Apollo." In addition, he has appeared in B-movies like "Death of a Dynasty," "A Get2gether" and "Durdy Game." Most recently, his one-hour comedy special, "Wired," aired on Showtime and he can be seen in the Comedy Central show "Russell Simmons Presents Stand-Up at the El Rey" hosted by JB Smoove.
